Last hour of 2008

The time is 2300, 31st of December, year 2008.

Another year, about to end. Another year, about to be put entirely into the book of history.

Another year, about to start. Another year, with more to come.

2008 is the year I started uni. Started uni with only one friend in the same course, Bernice. But she wasn't in the same group as me, we didn't really meet up as often as we hoped for. ahahaha. Other people I had known before uni started were only like.. Ming Hui, Melissa K, and Amelia, an ex-classmate who I haven't really spoken to since Junior High? *scratches my head*



Hmm anyway, let's see what were the good (or not so good) stuff this year..

1. Went picnicking at the beach during summer, and found out that my swimming stamina stinked so badly i couldn't last swimming 10 minutes against the small waves. :/

2. Went clubbing for the first time XD at Ruby Room, Burswood. And I'll never forget how Conrad's car broke down 2 minutes from Burswood, right in the middle of Great Eastern Hwy -.-

3. Went inside the Burswood Casino and lost 50 bucks there =x Lesson learned: stop when you have won a fair bit and start losing.

4. Had more fine dining restaurants than I can ever imagine. Even more than the fine dining restaurants that my dad brought me to in a few years in Malaysia. Love ya sis!! Thanks so much! Restaurants that I've been to: K's, Tsunami, Friends, 150 East Riverside, Olive Tree..

5. Joined a gym, and wasted half the year's membership there before I got more serious about working out :S

6. Drank quite a lot of alcohol that my mum would murder me if she finds out XD (oh well *shrugs*)

7. Been through a big rollercoaster ride in this place called the Heart.. Bigger than what I've ridden in the past years...

8. Studied with friends in uni from day till midnight.. just to do the paper ever so shittily afterwards..

9. Starting to accept beer, as I previously disliked drinking beer.

10. Played more boardgames than ever.

Not too bad for a year I guess.. Oh lookie, it's past 12am already at Perth. Damn, I expected to finish this before 12am, but went out to the riverside to watch new year countdown fireworks.

So.. What about New Year's Resolution? I would say..
(I) I shall not waste my gym membership
(II) I shall get buffed, get fit and strengthen my body
(III) Get a part-time or casual job. Hopefully an engineering-related one during vacation to start filling up my engineering exposure hours

Boxing Day Mega Sales

Yep, Boxing Day. Or some might call it Second Day of Christmas.

And it was a day of.......



Yeah, Boxing Day sales, in Perth city. Not every shop was open, but most were, and had that kind of poster at their shopfront.

Heck, I had never seen Perth city this crowded before. All free parkings and heaps of paid parking places were filled up. And the only phrase to describe the Street Mall was exactly "people mountain people sea" (人山人海 in Chinese). Entrances were as crowded as you can imagine. A horde (yes, horde) of people entering and exiting the shops and department stores. And really, it was the first time I saw David Jones that full of people, and Myer's escalator needed security guards to force groups of people to queue up just to ride the escalator on every single floor.

Other scenes include:


Queuing just to get into shops (didn't get a position to take the whole line cuz I got so pissed by people constantly walking pass in front of me). This new Guess store had quite a long queue for a long time :|



Branded bag shop Oroton's queue.. The sales assistant in there even had to shut the door to keep the crowd from storming into the shop.



JB Hi-Fi, the crowd was probably worse before I went in because we stayed out of it until the queue outside JB Hi-Fi dispersed.
Speaking of which, a new JB Hi-Fi had just opened on this day at Picadilly's Arcade, which is only a short walk away. I wonder why.



There was no queue outside City Beach, but the inside did. There were about 4 counters serving 4 lines of customers at the ground floor guy section, and the girl section upstairs had another 2 or 3 counters. 7 queue-lines in this not-too-big surf shop, what the heck.
The sad thing was I couldn't find beach shorts of my size T_T but I finally got my sunnies here, so fair enough I guess. ~_~

But the worst encounter of the day was, a 50-minute queue at Myer basement, for my sister's work suit jacket and work pants (the City Beach queue was about 10~15 minutes, not too bad).



Even this hotdog stall at the Street Mall had a friggin' long queue WTF?! x_x

What about the economy crisis? *scratches head*
